Card processing: from 1.2% + 20p — you keep the rest
Processing is Stripe's UK registered-charity rate, charged by Stripe directly. BarakahPay adds nothing on top and takes no cut of donations. Other providers in this market charge per device (£15/month each) with card fees from 1.69% — on a typical mosque with two devices, that's a higher subscription and a higher fee on every single tap. Honest answers
What do card payments cost?
Card processing is charged by Stripe, not by us, from 1.2% + 20p per transaction at Stripe's UK registered-charity rate (standard rate 1.5% + 20p until your charity rate is approved). BarakahPay takes no percentage of donations — you keep the rest. Donors can choose to cover the fee, and most do.
Is it really per mosque, not per device?
Yes. One subscription covers your whole mosque: unlimited kiosk tablets, unlimited campaigns, unlimited QR codes, unlimited team members. Some providers charge £15/month for every device you run — three tablets there costs more than our Premium plan.
Do you hold our donation money?
Never. Donations are processed by Stripe and settle directly into your mosque's own bank account. Your mosque is the merchant of record; BarakahPay is software that never touches the funds.
Can we really cancel anytime?
Yes — genuinely. There is no minimum term, no notice period, and no cancellation fee. Cancel from your settings page in two clicks, and unused time on annual plans is refunded pro rata.
What happens to our data if we leave?
It's yours, and it leaves with you. Every plan — including Free — has one-click export of your full donor list, donation ledger and Gift Aid declarations as CSV, available at all times. This is a commitment in our terms of service, not a support favour.
What hardware do we need for the kiosk?
Any modern tablet with a browser — an iPad, an Android tablet, even a spare one from a committee member's drawer. There is no proprietary hardware to buy and no shipping to wait for. Card-present terminal support (Stripe Terminal) is on the roadmap for GASDS-eligible contactless.
What counts towards the Free tier's £2,000?
Donations processed through BarakahPay (online, kiosk, QR) in a rolling twelve months. Logged cash collections don't count towards the limit. When you approach £2,000, we'll tell you in the dashboard — nothing stops working suddenly.
